Located in the heart of Hà Tây province, about half an hour by car southwest of Hà nội, the villages of Duyên Thái, Chuyên Mỹ and Phú Minh , which possess their own traditional handicrafts, are our base for just half a day trip out of Hà nội.
These villages lie along the bank of the Red River. The main river winds its way through the marshy delta to the Gulf of Tonkin. It boasts an impressive landscape with endless rice fields, ancient pagodas and a labyrinth of markets.
We depart from Hà nội for a short drive to HàTây province in the neighbourhood of Hà nội (15 km away). Upon our arrival at Duyên Thái village, home to traditional lacquer ware.
Time here can be spent wandering around traditional villages and meeting the friendly local people.
Keep traveling to really see the next villages of Phú Minh(famous for handmade shoes and leather handicraft products) and Đồng Xung( a truly Viet culture village). We navigate along the river front, through enomous rice fields and beyond.
En route, we disembark to experience traditional methods of processing noodle vermicelli and soya sauce in local homes.
Those who appreciate the sheer delight of local cuisine can settle in with a local family making Spring Rolls and other dishes.(Fishing, gardening, joy the cooking food for our dinner)

After breakfast keep driving to Perfume Pagoda:
An area holds a religious significance for the local people, being considered one of the most sacred of all sites in Vietnam.
This is a remarkable trip through three different regions of North Vietnam and offers a wonderful balance of adventure and cultural insights.
We journey from the sheer beauty of Perfume Pagoda. There is hiking, boating.
Followed by a cable car journey up to Perfume Pagoda, hidden in a cave and surrounded by stunning forests and towering mountains, Perfume Pagoda lies on top of the mountain range of Hương Sơn, and is famed for its spectacular views over the whole area.
We continue soaking up more breathtaking scenery as we hike to our waiting boat. Then we move on to Mai Châu.
Mai Châu is home to White Thai and Muong ethnic minority people.
Known for their hospitality and resistance to assimilation, their indigenous and diverse cultures provide an individualism unique to others.
The rolling hills coupled with their sculpted rice terraces make an ideal place for walking around.
Here, we hike through open rice fields, pass tiny villages and meet the local farmers at work, as they plough their paddies behind water buffaloes, tend their seasonal crops or fish in the river.
Finally, we descend into a valley, home to White Thai people. We settle in with a hospitable local family in a traditional wooden house for the night. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included).
This morning we have the opportunity to stroll around Lọng village before we start hiking. The scenery is breathtaking. We hike through several Thai and villages before arriving at the village of Kho Muong, a Muong minority village. We enjoy another warm welcome.
Here, we absorb the atmosphere and savour the local chicken, sticky rice and drink locally brewed ‘rice wine’ through long straw.
The night is spent in a traditional stilt house, giving us an opportunity to experience their culture. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included).
Trang An, home to magnificent twisted rock formations and Vietnam’s ancient capital, is our destination today. We enjoy a boat ride on a charming and peaceful canal. Cycling is one of great ways to explore the serene villages of the area.
We cycle along quiet countryside at an easy and leisurely pace to suit everybody, or hike around a beautiful valley to soak up the atmosphere and spirit of this area,

Halong Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay of the submerged dragon, which boast 3000 craggy and towering islets, are amongst the most picturesque places in Vietnam.
The fantastic beauty of the bays has given rise to many legends, some of them dating back to the ancient past.
It is said that a dragon descended into the deep water spitting out gems as he did so. And thus the rocky islands were formed.
Departing Ha Noi we journey to Ha Long City. Upon our arrival we embark on a boat trip among some of the spectacular limestone peaks.
We navigate to places out-of-the-way and find scenic spots. Here we settle our boat for swimming and taking a kayaking ride to exlore the bay. It is one of the best ways to relax and appreciate the sublime beauty of the bay.
Well off the tourist trail, we indulge in Hang Trong, a beautiful spot, perfect for the night on our boat. (Lunch and dinner are included).
A morning b oat trip brings us to some of the bay’s truly awesome scenery – vertical and unusual rocks and islets emerge from the sea. Weather permitting, there will be an opportunity to swim in the clear waters.
Leaving Halong Bay, we drive due north to Cai Rong Island. In Bai Tu Long Bay we enjoy a beautiful boat trip among the spectacular limestone peaks.
Weather permitting, we take a kayaking ride through stunning rock formations and fishing villages.
Arriving on Quan Lan Island, a serene and beautiful island in Bai Tu Long Bay, we head to our lodge.
Our lodge is tastefully designed with textile and bamboo accents on the bedding, adorned with traditional furnishing, the room is peaceful and exotic.
At our warm and friendly lodge we have the opportunity to learn to make traditional Vietnamese Spring Rolls and succulent fish dipping sauce and Squid dish.

Quan Lan Island is located in Bai Tu Long Bay. The island is blessed with stunning beaches, scenic hills, sand dunes and surroundings sprinkled with tiny villages.
There is so much to see and do on Quan Lan Island – why not get a feel for the island by exploring an early fishing market or taking a quiet morning strolling around the picturesque village of Quan Lan and watching the day unfold on the island.
Next, we take a bicycling ride across the island before we board our boat to discover further northern reaches of Bai Tu Long Bay. We find a beautiful spot for taking a delightful kayak ride among vertical rock formations.
Finally we navigate to Cai Rong Island. This is followed by our journey back to Ha Noi, arriving there at about 6pm. (Breakfast and lunch are included).
